Varekai Ranch West is a stunning location designed to inspire lifelong connections between humans and horses.
The round pen is at the heart of Varekai Ranch West. It’s almost always occupied – and you’re likely to find several others peering through the wooden slats, bearing witness to the learning taking place. The round pen offers an invitation you can’t ignore, to practice communication and build trust with a horse.
Varekai Ranch is usually buzzing with activity as volunteers, family, veterinarians, and partners move through the property with a task at hand. Amid the checklists, we try to remember to pause, to listen to what is truly needed that day, and how we can best tend to the horses that call this place home.
Clinics
Clinics provide participants with valuable, hands-on support in their horsemanship journeys. Varekai Ranch West is the perfect place for ongoing education. Each clinic helps build a strong foundation and encourages healthy partnerships to flourish. We’ve most recently partnered with Ben Longwell at True West Horsemanship for a series of clinics at VR West, each of which was sold out with several daily auditors eager to learn.
We also offer occasional workshops on specific topics, such as equine medical care.

Lessons
Lessons provide one-on-one time to problem-solve and build confidence. Lessons at Varekai Ranch begin with groundwork. Whether you’re a beginner or seasoned pro, we break things down and focus on fundamentals. Horsemanship is not a linear path, and we must be prepared to address gaps, be curious, and avoid getting stuck.
We strongly believe that practicing in between lessons is key, and the only way for you and the horse to make strides together.
